"The Simpsons" Movie is finally here! We are so excited, and yes, we will definitely see it this weekend. We, like so many people, are huge Simpsons fans. Below is a picture from a Simpsons Halloween party we hosted a couple of years ago. Rob went as Mr. Burns and Lori as Otto. We had beer and donuts as snack food, played some funs games and had a great time.

The movie "1408" is a thriller that must be seen. Mikael Håfström, the director, does an excellent job of placing you in the panic of the situation and orchestras events that prescribe fear. Håfström keeps your attention through out this movie by personifying "the room" with his stylist direction, intense sound effects and subtle clues. If you are a Carpenters' fan, after seeing this movie, you will have a different sentiment for the song "We've Only Just Begun." Can't explain...just have to see.M. Night Shyamalan is one of my favorite directors. Håfström is on stride to join that group. "1408" is the best thriller of the year. Since "1408" was released on June 22, I'm not sure how long it will remain in theaters. So don't delay, call the Dolphin Hotel and ask for room 1408. You will not be disappointed.

Today at church, we heard the best cover of a Linkin Park song. Now you may be wondering, "Why did a band perform a Linkin Park song at church?" Jeff Kapusta, pastor at Lifepoint Church, is in the middle of a series titled God at the Billboard. Basically, the series looks at today's popular songs and how the words can reflect scripture and God's message. It is a great series. This week the worship band performed "What I've Done" by Linkin Park. The band is amazing every week. This week they were exceptional. Before we go further, let us mention that we realize the purpose of the band and it's role during the service. They play with the true intent to worship and serve genuinely with humility. With that said, today they rocked. We have heard many bands, in many bars, perform many cover songs, from many different bands. Today's performance at church ranks with the best. The band was impressive, but the vocal by Dave Holt was phenomenal! Dave hit every note with such accuracy, it was as if the song was written for his voice. This extraordinary performance not only showcased the hard work and talent of the worship band, but begged for an encore. Sadly, after Jeff finished his sermon, they re-played only a third of the song and we were dismissed. Encore...Encore!
You can check out the sermon here at lifepointnow.com. If you are not familiar with the song, here are the lyrics:

On Tuesday night, I saw one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. "Live Free and Die Hard" is horrific. Not since "The English Patient", have I seen a more inferior movie at the theater. The script appears to be written at a 1st grade level and the plot is like showing up at Golden Corral for all-you-can-eat fake crab. After awhile, you get sick and yearn for the real thing. Most action movies have an excellent plot, great script, believable actors and a soundtrack to get your blood pumping. Not with "Live Free and Die Hard." It is so depressingly made, that they should be selling Prozac at the concession stand. I like action movies. "Aliens", "Die Hard", "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "The Road Warrior" and "The Matrix" are a few of the classic action movies. As I write this, I am still trying to vanquish this movie from my mind. "Live Free and Die Hard" is no action movie....it is barely a movie.
If you want to see a great movie, check out "Knocked Up" or "Ratatouille". You will not be disappointed.

Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
